As I mentioned yesterday on goLaTeX.de, the forum mrunix.de was permanently closed on August 1, 2025. The reasons were low activity and a high volume of spam. Besides Unix topics, the LaTeX subforum was very active—probably the most active of all. I had offered to keep it running, clean it of the massive spam, and at least preserve the users’ contributions. Unfortunately, that offer was not accepted.
I had been part of the forum since April 2007, with several thousand posts, all of which are now gone. I can no longer see the exact number; archive.org has preserved very little, probably due to the dynamic links. My profile is still there, though without any posts.
Since situations like this are to be expected, I now post almost exclusively in forums whose operation I can guarantee myself, such as LaTeX.org (where I don’t want to lose my current 10,358 posts), goLaTeX.de (2,767), and TeXwelt.de (300).
